Gijsbert Huijink is a renewable energy executive with over 15 years of experience founding and managing energy projects across Europe. He founded Som Energia in 2010, Spain’s first renewable energy cooperative, leading large-scale solar, wind, and community energy initiatives whilst building collaborative networks across European cooperatives. Gijsbert is currently Co-Founder and CEO of SOL Renewables in Romania, where he has developed a 1 GW project pipeline and successfully sold five projects to international investors. He specialises in utility-scale solar, battery storage optimisation, and offtake structures. Gijsbert also owns and manages two utility-scale solar projects in Spain and previously served as shareholder and board member of Masunga (UK). He holds Master’s degrees in Quantitative Economics and Business Innovation and Technology Management, and is fluent in Dutch, Romanian, Catalan, and English.
